A More Reasonable Configuration Of RG-5X Drive Roller
For the RG-5X pipe grooving machine design, we specifically chose drive roll configurations of 1“-1 ½”; 2“-3”; 3 ½“-6”; 8“-12”. Instead, a larger range of drive roll configurations such as 1“-1 ½”, 2“-6”, 8“-12”. There were a number of considerations behind this design decision, with the main ones being rolling groove speeds, efficiency, pressure wheel diameters, and pipe diameter adaptability.
How does the drive roller influence rolling groove speed and efficiency?
Using one set of drive rolls to cover the 2“-6” pipe diameter range seems to reduce the frequency of drive roll changes, but in practice, especially when grooving 4“-6” pipe, significant speed drops are encountered. This is due to the small diameter of the drive rolls and the constant speed of the grooving machine. When using a small-diameter drive roll to roll a large-diameter pipe, the speed cannot be effectively increased.
What’s more, when you use the small-diameter drive roller groove a large-diameter pipe, the pressure applied is not uniform, which tends to result in a larger press-out of the flare. This not only affects the quality of the flutes but may also lead to a loss of precision and consistency in the finished product. So, if you need to groove 4“-6” pipes, it’s better to choose 3 1/2″-6″ drive roller instead of 2″-6″. and, our RG-5X grooving machine will be your best choice.
When the diameter of the drive rolls is designed to be small, it is more suitable for the rolling groove of small diameter pipes. 2“-3” drive rolls are designed to match the diameter of 2“-3” pipes, thus ensuring the accuracy and consistency of the grooving operation. During grooving, the rollers rotate passively, so the speed of grooving is determined by the diameter of the drive shaft, not the drive rollers.
